I felt that my previous half drop repeat was not detailed enough, therefore I created a more in-depth drawing to begin with, to create a more complete design. The shape of the drawing and the patterns it creates once repeated allows the wallpaper to flow as a hole.

Drawings repeated
I'm very new to photoshop so have been playing around with my image and creating block and half drop repeats. This design looks ok, but I'm not very fond of the motif.
Drawings
My drawing style is loose and usually with wet material, to create images in a baroque style I have been drawing with dry materials and trying to keep my lines neat. Drawings that are tonal work well as they replicate the wood carvings from the period. The dark, fine liner drawings will work well in repeat for wallpapers.
Baroque
Digitex
I
am going to create a modern collection of wallpaper designs and
fabric themes in a baroque style. From studying the architecture,
homes, furnishings and life styles of the period, I will be able to
understand the style and design thoroughly. This This will allow me
to create an innovative and new collection. Rococo wallpapers will
also be a good source as this style links closely to baroque.
To
create my designs I'm also going to look at the fashion of the
period, the prints and colours used and look into modern
interpretations of this. The modern prints will help me to create a
solid colour scheme for my designs.
These are some examples of wallpapers in this style.
The First Cut
I recently visited 'The First Cut' exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery. This exhibited a range of paper based art work, from small, delicate cut out pieces to vast scale work.
