Interaction

To make the public more involved I have come up with making an interactive zine. This will included instructions on how to build things out of detachable pieces of paper. One of the ideas is to make a boat, this will then be made and floated down the river. In the evening a candle can be added to create a river of lights.

How to build a boat

Begin with a rectangle piece of paper.

Fold in half (as shown), then partially fold again to create a crease at the top.

Here you can see the crease which will help you line up the corners.

Now fold the paper upwards on both sides, then open up like a hat.

Bring the corners of the hat together and 'squash' into a square.

Take the lower corner of the square and fold up, repeat on other side.

Again 'squash' the triangle into a square.

Now pull the corners of the square, one in each hand.

Keep pulling to unfold your boat.

Puff out the underneath, helps it float better.

Zines

The design festival is being made to entice the public, make them see their city in a different way. A simple way of achieving this is through a zine. This is a collection of images and words to create a small booklet. For our zines we have thought of a simple colour scheme, by changing the hue to create a green/blue tinge to our images. These images are some examples of what could be put in the zine.
